Jennifer Gordon - Director
Jennifer is a state and federally licensed
wildlife rehabilitator. She has rescued thousands of birds
during her time as a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. She
is on the board of directors for a wildlife sanctuary as well as
the states wildlife rehab association. She regularly
teaches bird related rehabilitation classes at conference and
events in several states.
Jennifer founded a national network
for waterfowl rescues and has coordinated rescues across
the United States and overseas. She is certified for
chemical immobilization, holds a wildlife damage control agent
license, certificate of non profit management and is working towards her veterinary technician
designation.
Jennifer has received numerous awards for
her work with wildlife and was recently honored to receive the
North Carolina Governors Wildlife Achievement Award in
association with the NC Wildlife Federation. This award is the
most prestigious that you can receive in the state.

Louise Bhavnani - Volunteer Coordinator
Louise graduated from with a degree in biological sciences.
She was also the president of the Clemson Animal Welfare
Society where she volunteered weekly with a local animal
shelter. Louise’s first job was with a Public Interest
Research Group
(PIRG)
in
Connecticut.
Louise
previously worked for Carolina Raptor Center, an
organization dedicated to environmental education and the
conservation of birds of prey. As the director of volunteer
services, Louise managed more than 300 regular volunteers,
special project groups, high school student volunteers,
interns and junior
(10-15
year old)
volunteers. Louise is also active on the executive board of
Metrolina Area Volunteer Administrators group.

Leslie Vanden Herik - Rescue/Transport
Leslie holds a bachelors degree in Biology from the
University of North Carolina, Charlotte and is currently
pursuing a certificate in Non-profit Management from Duke
University.
Leslie works in the field of Natural Resource Conservation
and has a background in non-formal environmental education.
Passionate about wildlife and conservation, Leslie
volunteers her time with the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue as
well as a variety of other conservation projects. Leslie is
licensed by the State of North Carolina as Wildlife
Rehabilitator and as a Wildlife Damage Control Agent.
Leslie Wieser - Rescue/Transport
Leslie is also on
the Board for Companion Parrots Re-Home, (a parrot rescue
and adoption nonprofit organization) and for HAWK (Habitat
and Wildlife Keepers-a chapter of the NC Wildlife
Federation).
Leslie's experience also includes volunteering for the Carolina Raptor
Center. Leslie is the Human Resource Manager for Discovery
Place and has worked in the human resources field for over
25 years. Leslie has been working with birds for over 10
years and currently shares her life with 5 parrots. She is
an advocate for all birds and feels her volunteering efforts
help with the encroachment problems humans have created in
their habitat.
