Wildlife suffer from a wide range
of injuries, illnesses, and problems. Some animals are orphaned
or fall from their nests. Others suffer from broken wings, disease,
malnutrition, or other afflictions. The overwhelming source of problems
are related to human activities, like fishing, fish hooks and fishing
line are the number one injury we see at CWR.
Other problems we see are lead shot
and sinkers, oil contamination, cat & dog attacks, impact with windows,
impact with vehicles, gun shot wounds, pesticide poisoning, habitat
loss, and glue boards and rat poison
Some of the injuries are cause by
humans trying to care for wildlife without the proper knowledge.
Like this Canada Goose. Kept in improper caging he developed severe
bumblefoot and keel sores. Which is very painful and hard to treat.

Dog Attacked Mallard Hen showing
her stitches after surgery to repair her broken foot.

Other Birds we treated this year
Orphaned Goldfinch

Mallard Duck shot with an arrow.
Xrays revealed he also had 3 bullets in him. We named him "Lucky"
Thanks to the great work of Dr. Lauren Powers at Carolina
Vet Specialists for saving Lucky's life.

Hit by car Great Horned Owl that
was treated and sent to Carolina
